Based in the North East of England, Horovod perform arrangements of dance music from the Balkans, Turkey and Greece. The group grew out of a shared interest in the music of these places, after the clarinetist Dov Goldberg overheard violinist Morag Brown practicing Greek music between teaching lessons. Added to the sound was Lewis Powell-Reid on accordion, Frazer Watson on percussion, and Tony Abell on double bass.

Morag continues to be based in Newcastle where she teaches Suzuki Method violin, and she makes musical trips to Greece on a regular basis.

Lewis achieved a First for his degree in Folk and Traditional Music at Newcastle University in 2013, and he was also awarded the Harry Clews Prize for best final recital.
Tony Abell - Tony played in the BBC National Orchestra of Wales from 1985-2006 as both tutti sub and principal bass.
